Saturday night... as we turned out the lights in the gym... the last sound check, rehearsed the last song, and the final plans were laid to rest... I went home and prayed... "Lord, I lay down the details and embrace the divine!"
I slept off and on like a 5 year old waiting to wake up onChristmas morning... Sunday's early light poured in as I walked from the Jr high parking lot... through the highschool lot... and into the highschool... praying all the way for the volunteers and those coming 2 hours later.
The lights came on... the stage filled... the worship team and band had one last sound check. All the volunteers came... ready... prayed up... wearing their "Come As You Are" shirts... and got into place. We opened the doors at 9 and we headed to a back room to pray and take communion. You could feel the energy and the anticipation rising...
Soon... over 2100 filled the gymnasium... (we had 75 in the 0-5 year old area which was in the practice gym)
The NMCC choir did an excellent job to kick off the experience... and we embraced the divine moment that Jesus defeated death... our sin payment has been paid... and the tomb is empty! Several took advantage of our Commitment Corner and we will be witnessing a baptism soon!! A destiny was changed!!! Priceless! It was an awesome and amazing day!
But not just for those at the gym. I talked with several other churches and discovered that they were packed as well! I have been praying that all the churches in this area be overwhelmed in attendance! If everyone in Madison and the surrounding area decided to go to church... there wouldn't be enough seating... or space... and it is my prayer that all the churches grow and God's Kingdom expand as those who have yet to be convinced... become convinced about Jesus and say "Yes!"
Sunday was awesome! To God be the glory for the great things He has done... is doing... and will do! Greater things are yet to come... greater things are still to be done... in this city! He really is the God of this city!
Awesome!
