One of the first things I noticed that matters most to God is that I love Him will all my heart. Have you ever just thought about what that could mean? My friend Bill, commented yesterday that he desires that his heart breaks for the same things that break God's heart! That's passionate! Because if you ask God to break your heart for the things that break His... He will. (Thanks for sharing, Bill)
On this day... how would it be to concentrate on loving God with your whole heart? There are so many scriptures that talk about the heart... just look it up in a concordance and that will keep you pretty busy for the day. One that I like is "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10
With that clean heart... I want to focus it all on the One who gave it to me. And that means all of my emotions, reactions, concerns, and cares. It's the heart that He created in me and I want to give it totally to Him!
The Psalms are people (mostly David) writing down their emotions from their heart. While some may not be writers... others are more verbal. Have you ever spoken your prayers out loud? Spoken them with emotion? Maybe even sang them? (okay... I know I went too far on that one)
But when we want to express our love to our parents, or our spouse, or our kids, do we just want them to read our minds? Sometimes it makes a difference not only to the one who verbally hears them, but also to the one who verbally speaks them.
For me... Day 2... I want God to not only know my thoughts, but hear my heart through my voice. And every emotion... I desire will point to the fact... that I love Him.
And if you want to know why I desire to give Him my whole heart and love Him with all of my heart... check out this video. I love it when we sing this during our 430 Worship... Today... Love God with all your heart...
Thanks Bob for the link. I think many Christ-followers want to love God with all their heart but if they are like me find so many things warring with it, wanting its attention. Sometimes it is sin. Sometimes it is daily life. Sometimes it is decisions that need to be made. But I think you use the correct word: desire. We need to desire to have a heart that pursues God. Great thoughts!
